Pair record stand-up shows for new streaming service

Rose Matafeo and Ahir Shah are to record stand-up specials for the new HBO Max streaming service in America.

30 Rock’s Tracy Morgan and Search Party’s John Early will also be taping live shows for the service, the broadcaster has revealed.

It was previously announced that New Zealander Matafeo was to record her Edinburgh Comedy Award-winning show Horndog at  The Ambassadors Theatre in London’s West End on Friday  January 17 at 7pm and 9:30pm, but no broadcaster was named.  Tickets are available here

HBO Max will also be streaming Matafeo’s BBC Three sitcom Starstruck, in which she plays a millennial struggling with dead-end jobs in London who ends up sleeping with a famous film star.

No details have yet been given for Shah’s recording. The political firebrand and social commentator was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Comedy Show in 2017 and 2018.

Both British-based comedians are represented by  Avalon, whose TV arm will make the specials, and who also struck similar deals for Chris Ramsey, Ed Gamble, Flo & Joan, Paul ChowdhryRob Delaney and Jayde Adams with Amazon Prime.
