Disturbing details of attack revealed before he is sentenced

The man who killed Australian comedian Eurydice Dixon has appeared in court ahead of his sentencing.

Jaymes Todd’s appearance at the Supreme Court of Victoria has meant  full details of the the horrific attack have become public.

The 19-year-old stalked Ms Dixon for more than an hour on June 12 last year, following her from the city centre, where she had been gigging,.

As she crossed football fields near her suburban home, he grabbed her from behind; sexually assaulted her then pressed on her windpipe for ‘maybe five or ten minutes’, in his words, until she died. Reports of the court case describe the attack in disturbing detail.

The court heard Todd had a history of internet searches for rape and snuff porn, strangulation porn and ‘emo girls’. He’d spent the afternoon drinking alcohol and smoking cannabis before spotting Ms Dixon.

He handed himself in to police the next day after friends told him his ‘face was all over the news’ and later confessed.

In court, Todd’s defence lawyer said he didn't plan to murder Ms Dixon until the moment of the attack.

The pre-sentencing hearing continues until Friday.
