Comedy Central gets Younger

Broadcaster buys US comedy

American comedy series Younger is coming to the UK after Comedy Central acquired all six series.

The show – about a 40-year-old single mother who lies about her age to land a job in  publishing – was created by Darren Star, who was also behind  Beverly Hills, 90210, Melrose Place, and Sex and the City.

Sutton Foster takes the lead role with Hilary Duff playing another employee at the book firm.

The comedy airs on TV Land in the US – a sister company to Comedy Central – where its last season attracted an average of 670,000 viewers.

But it has been a hit with critics, scoring 100 per cent on aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.

Louise Holmes, general manager of Comedy Central UK, said: 'Younger is a delightful mix of comedy, drama and romance that is sure to become a firm favourite with Comedy Central viewers.’

Co-starring Debi Mazar, Miriam Shor, Nico Tortorella, Peter Hermann, Molly Bernard and Charles Michael Davis, the series will air on Comedy Central UK later this year.

Younger has previously been sold to more than 160 countries, with local remakes under way in South Korea and China.
