NORTHWICH Jason Manford hosts the final of the new act night run by the comedy clubs that bear his name. In the running for the title are Evaldas Karosas, Sian Davies, Dave Bawden, Matt Bragg, Horatio Gould, Usama Khan, Liam O'Brien, Sachin David Kumarendran, Carla Pol, Charlie Hopkinson, while the Raymond & Mr Timpkins Revue will headline.

LONDON: It's Chortle's annual Fast Fringe showcase of 28 Edinburgh-bound comedy and variety acts, all presented at a breathlessly entertaining breakneck speed. MANCHESTER: The month-long Greater Manchester Fringe kicks off tonight with 163 shows in all genres across the month. Musical comedy tonight comes from Australian comic and ex-Neighbours star Grant Busé at the King's Arms in Salford. Festival website.

Tuesday July 2

LONDON: One for the comedians as Chortle stages another couple of industry sessions at the Museum Of Comedy. The first offers an invaluable insight into writing TV comedy as Friday Night Dinner creator Robert Popper shares what he's learned during his career, which has also taken in South Park, Peep Show, Stath Lets Flats, and being a Channel 4 commissioner. Then we have a panel about getting into corporate gigs, voiceovers and streaming video - which has to be a prime networking opportunity, too. Tickets are £12 a session or £18 for both.

Wednesday July 3

BRISTOL: It's day one of the Bristol Comedy Garden, which parks its marquee in Queen Square until Sunday. Tonight's line-up is Sean Lock, Andrew Maxwell, Angelos Epithemiou, Sarah Keyworth and Rhys James - but you can't go wrong on any night.

LONDON: Adam Buxton heads the line-up of the Laugh Till It Hurts benefit in aid of Mind at the Bloomsbury Theatre with a line-up that also includes Ed Gamble, Scott Capurro, Sindhu Vee and more.

Thursday July 4

LONDON: The latest Stand-up Under The Stars at Battersea Arts Centre offers another winning mix of fast-breaking-though comedians in the form of Emma Sidi, Fin Taylor, Mae Martin, Pierre Novellie and Rob Carter.

Friday July 5

LONDON: Bush Hall Presents always offers a strong line-up, and with Stewart Lee on tonight's bill, it's no exception. He's joined by Colin Hoult, Josie Long and Shappi Khorsandi.

GALASHIELS: Jack Dee starts a short Highlands and Islands tour of work in progress gigs before kicking off a new stand-up show Off The Telly in the autumn. Dates

LONDON: There's an all-day Edinburgh preview festival at the intimate 2Northdown near Kings Cross, offering a plethora of traditionally well-reviewed Fringe acts: Ahir Shah, Alex Kealy, Bridget Christie, Ivo Graham, Jessica Fostekew, Sofie Hagen and Tony Law. The seven-show marathon kicks off at 12.30pm
