Royal Shakespeare Company hosts a comedy festival
The Royal Shakespeare Company is to host a comedy festival this autumn, featuring the likes of Adam Kay, Bridget Christie, Rory Bremner and Milton Jones.
The comics will be taking to the stage of the RSC’s theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon over five non-consecutive nights in September.
Medic-turned-comic Kay will be presenting his solo show This Is Going To Hurt, based on his time as a junior doctor in the NHS, while the other comedians will be appearing in line-up shows.
Phil Wang, Suzi Ruffell, Desiree Burch, Ivo Graham and Felicity Ward are also among the acts taking part.
The festival is being programmed by Underbelly, which previously joined forces with the RSC for the Comedy Hullabaloo in a Spiegeltent opposite the landmark theatre from 2013 to 2015.
Geraldine Collinge of the RSC said: ‘Welcoming some of the UK’s top comedians to our Stratford home is very exciting and we are delighted to be able to offer such a great line-up.’
Ed Bartlam, co-director at Underbelly said: ‘It’s a privilege to be given access to the RST. We're looking forward to a fortnight of fun’
