John Shuttleworth is to write his first book in more than 20 years.

Two Margarines And Other Domestic Dilemmas will be released next April by renowned music book publisher Omnibus.

The mild-mannered Sheffield singer-songwriter, created by Graham Fellows – last appeared in print in 1997 with 500 Bus Stops: A Guide to Stardom and Other Top Tips.

His new title is based on his 2007 song in which he frets about the ‘nightmare scenario’ of opening a new tub of spread when the last had not been finished yet.

Two Margarines will be available before its official release at Shuttleworth’s live shows. He has just announced a 50-plus tour of the UK, kicking off in January, three years after Fellows said he was resting his brown-leather-jacketed alter-ego.

Thew new show, John Shuttleworth's Back, is also about the trouble the entertainer is having with his back.

Meanwhile, his Radio 4 show The Shuttleworths is to return for a half-hour Christmas special. This will be the second consecutive year such a one-off has aired since the original series ended in 2010.
