Playing an MP in Channel 4's Adult Material,

Kerry Godliman has joined the case of a new Channel 4 drama about the porn industry.

In Adult Material, the stand-up will play an MP, Stella Maitland, who forms an unlikely friendship with the lead character, Jolene Dollar, who is one of Britain’s top X-rated film stars.

Stella comes to Jolene’s defence when her career, family, and reputation are in tatters.

The lead in the contemporary four-part series – a mother of three – will be played by Hayley Squires from I, Daniel Blake.

She said: ‘I am so excited and incredibly grateful to be playing Jolene Dollar, she is like the wildest dream. 

‘Lucy  [Kirkwood] has written the most complex, multi-faceted and morally challenging story. Throughout each episode you are constantly forced to question your own judgement and beliefs and that makes for the very best drama. I’m very lucky to be part of a female-led crew and an incredibly talented cast.’

Godliman’s previous credits include Ricky Gervais’s Derek and After Life, the Sky 1 series Carters Get Rich and Jack Dee’s ITV sitcom Bad Move.

Adult Material drama will go into production this summer.
