All guest stars named, with the Time Team host playing an archaeologist

Time Team and Blackadder star Tony Robinson is to appear in the next series of Plebs – as an archaeologist.

Producers of ITV2’s ancient Roman comedy have also confirmed that Amanda Holden will guest star – although the Britain’s Got Talent judge already shared the news with her 1million Instragram followers, including the press.

She will play  Rufina, a lusty aristocrat at a banquet, who sets her sights on Jason, the gate-crashing pleb played by Jonathan Pointing, and making him her plaything for the evening.

Also confirmed to make appearances in series 5 are Silent Witness star Emilia Fox, playing a detective, John Thomson, Tracy Ann Oberman, Kevin Bishop, Leo Gregory. Nigel Lindsay and Phil Davis.

Filming is under way in Bulgaria, with the returning cast also including Tom Rosenthal, Ryan Sampson, Tom Basden – who also wrote the series with Sam Leifer – Ellie Taylor, Maureen Lipman, Karl Theobald, Samantha Spiro and Danny Webb.
