Lucy Porter kicks off a new Radio 4 stand-up series

The best of the week's comedy on TV and radio

The comedy week ahead on TV and radio.

Sunday April 28

8 OUT OF 10 CATS: Comics Ed Gamble and Lou Sanders aer on the panel, while Aisling Bea returns as guest captain, opposite Rob Beckett.  E4, 9pm.

LUCY PORTER IN THE FAMILY WAY… AGAIN: Radio 4 kicks off a new series of six half-hour comedy specials with Porter returning to the domestic life she examined last year. Following up In the Family Way, she looks at the question of legacy: what do we receive from our parents, and what do we pass on to our children? Comedian and impressionist Luke Kempner helps her out. Radio 4, 7.15pm.

Tuesday April 30

ED REARDON’S WEEK: Christopher Douglas’s fictional author, pipe smoker, and master of the abusive email returns for an incredible 13th series. Radio 4, 6.30pm.

I, REGRESS: Matt Berry’s ‘unsettling and surreal’ comedy, first broadcast in a late-night Radio 4 slot six years ago, gets a repeat airing. In it, the IT Crowd star plays unethical and bizarre hypnotherapist taking unsuspecting clients on twisted, misleading journeys through their subconscious. Radio 4 Extra, 10.45pm

Wednesday May 1

URBAN MYTHS: This week’s story revolves around the trial where Joan Collins went head-to-head with Random House in the mid-1990s. She was paid a large advance for her novel, and when she delivered it,  the publishers claimed it was unpublishable. Starring Victoria Hamilton as Collins, David Walliams as Monty, her boyfriend at the time, alongside Mark Heap and Haydn Gwynne. The novel, perhaps unsurprisingly, was never published.. Sky Arts, 9pm

Friday May 3

HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU: Katherine Ryan hosts with  Andy Hamilton and Cariad Lloyd joining Ian Hislop and Paul Merton. BBC One, 9pm

COMEDY CLUB AT MACHYNLLETH: Radio 4 Extra returns to the Welsh festival - which otherwise discourages the comedy industry from attending - for a tenth year. As well as stand-up Jake Yapp will host features and interviews from the festival, with contributions from Angela Barnes, Rob Deering, Laura Lexx and Jessica Fostekew. Radio 4 Extra, 10pm.
