Test run of new format to be taped next week

Tom Allen is piloting a new dating show.

In Just Friends, singletons will compete to win a hot date and a cash prize by figuring out which potential suitor is single and who’s in a relationship.

Each potential date comes on to the show with their best friend, who’s must try to persuade the picker that their mate is the one they should date.  But two of the potential dates aren’t really single – and their ‘pals’ are actually their partners The picker has to try to figure out who the secret couples are.

Producers say the show is ‘packed with plenty of laughs, naughtiness and deliciously awkward moments’.

Allen – a regular on Channel 4’s Great British Bake Off: Extra Slice – will be fronting a not-for-broadcast pilot in London on Friday next week. It is not known which channels, if any, might be interested in picking up the format.

Free audience tickets are available for the recording from Standing Room Only.
