'I'm full of passion but I don't have the technique'

Comic Fred Cooke has signed up to appear on the next series of Dancing With The Stars.

The stand-up – familiar from his series of ads for the Spar supermarket chain – said: ‘I'm so happy to be taking part. When it comes to dancing, I'm full of passion but I don't have the technique.

‘I'll do my best to try and get both right on this incredible show.’

His appearance was announced on RTÉ 2FM this morning, which also revealed that former Miss Ireland Holly Carpenter would be taking part in the show, which is Ireland’s version of Strictly Come Dancing.

It was previously announced that Eilish O’Carroll – who plays Winnie McGoogan in Mrs Browns Boys and is the sister of show creator Brendan O’Carroll would also be taking part.

Stylist Darren Kennedy and presenter Mairead Ronan have also been confirmed, with six more names yet to be announced.

The show kicks off on RTÉ One on Sunday January 6.
