Michael McIntyre breaks O2 record

Comic sells more than 400,000 tickets at London venue

Michael McIntyre has broken a box office record at the O2.

The comedian is just about to start a run of seven shows at the London venue, which brings his total number of performances there to 28.

And with those sales he has amassed a total of 409,238 tickets there over the years – a new record

The previous high was Take That, who sold a total of 385,000 tickets over 29 performances.

McIntyre first performed at The O2 in 2009, when he performed four shows. He returned for ten gigs in 2010 and seven in 2015.

O2 programming director Emma Bownes said: ‘To have broken this record is a huge achievement and a testament to Michael McIntyre’s continued popularity with fans.

‘ We had the pleasure of presenting him with the keys to The O2 in 2015 when he hit the magic 21 shows – a record first established by Prince in 2007 – and every show he’s done here has been brilliant.’
