Dave Gorman's new tour clicks off

The best of the week's live comedy

The best of the week's live comedy:

Monday September 3

NORWICH: Dylan Moran kicks off his latest tour, Dr Cosmos, with a four-night stint at the Norwich Playhouse. Of the title, he says: 'I get these ideas for themes or identities that obsess me for years and Dr Cosmos has been around for a while. I'm writing a pilot episode which has Dr Cosmos as the title and it's about all kind of things, like consumerism and mental health. It's the idea of a snakeoil salesman, like those ads you see on the net about losing your tummy by eating bananas or not eating bananas, whatever it is.' But basically, 'a lot of the live show is about people just trying to cope'. His full schedule is here.

KINGSTON: There's a good mixed bill at the ever-dependable Outside The Box comedy club at the Fighting Cocks tonight, with regular MC Maff Brown hosting American storyteller Dave Fulton, impish Ed Gamble, quick-witted Stephen Grant, and serial celebrity-botherer Simon Brodkin.

Tuesday September 4

LONDON: An amazing bill at Mondo Brewery in Battersea features two 2018 Edinburgh Comedy Award nominees - artful wordsmith Glenn Moore and intelligent social firebrand Ahir Shah - as well as controversy-seeking Fin Taylor and commanding Naz Osmanoglu.

Wednesday September 5

SALFORD: Dave Gorman powers up his projector for his first new live tour show in four years, the wonderfully titled With Great Powerpoint Comes Great Responsibilitypoint, which kicks off at the Lowry tonight. Click here for all the dates.

Thursday September 6

LONDON:  America's master of self-sabotage, Andy Kindler, returns to London for the first time in a decade, with a eight-night residency at Soho Theatre. A 'comedians' comedian', he undermines every premise, critiques every punchline, and frets about every delivery. He is also infamous for his annual State of the Industry Address at the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival, skewering the US TV industry, and burning all his bridges...

LONDON: The 100 Club on Oxford Street presents its pick of the Edinburgh  Fringe, featuring Fin Taylor, delightful oddball Lucy Pearman, actorly character comic Garry Starr and the smart and funny Nish Kumar

Friday September 7

NEWCASTLE: Benidorm might have come to an end on ITV, but creator Derren Litten says the new live tour which kicks off tonight will continue the story. Stars Jake Canuso (who plays Mateo), Janine Duvitski (Jacqueline), Adam Gillen (Liam), Sherrie Hewson (Joyce Temple-Savage), Shelly Longworth (Sam) and Tony Maudsley (Kenneth) are all taking part. Full schedule

NANTWICH: The Cheshire market town might be an unlikely location for the best stand-up bill of the day. But there's no arguing with the line-up: Shooting Stars alumnus Angelos Epithemiou, improv powerhouses The Noise Next Door, Chaser and engaging personal storyteller Paul Sinha, and quirky conversationalist Tom Wrigglesworth make for an excellent night at the Town Hall.
