The Office could be opening again

NBC 'plans to revive' US version

The US version of The Office could be coming back – but with many new cast members.

American website TVLine reports that the NBC network is considering reviving the show for the 2018-2019 season.

It would again be set at paper merchant Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch, but Steve Carell will not be involved. His regional manager Michael Scott had already moved on for the last two of the show’s nine seasons.

However other supporting characters could be returning, although several cast members – including Mindy Kaling, Craig Robinson and Ellie Kemper – have already gone on to bigger things.

The NBC network has been buoyed by its revival of Will & Grace this year, which may be why it is looking at other shows.

The Office originally ran from 2005 to 2013, providing a tidy income for its British creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant.
