Susan Calman waltzes out of Strictly

...but it's not her last dance

Susan Calman’s time on Strictly is over.

The comedian lost out in a dance-off with Alexandra Burke last night after coming bottom of the leaderboard for the second consecutive week.

The 43-year-old knew her time was up before the judges had even passed comment, given that Burke is one of the favourites to lift the glitterball trophy.

She teased sarcastically: ‘It's going to be a really, really difficult dance off this one - isn't it? I think if we just really work on our technique we could make up those points’

And her dance partner Kevin Clifton joined in with the joke, saying: ‘It’s going to be a close one guys!’

Nevertheless, when it was confirmed that she was out of the show – having done far better than the initial odds suggested – a tear came to Calman’s eye.

Afterwards, she tweeted that she had had ‘the time of my life’, adding: ‘ I’m leaving with wonderful memories of a magical time. It’s what Strictly is all about.’

This is not the end of Calman’s time on the dancefloor, as she is joining the live arena tour next year.

And she has won new fans with her enthusiasm and memorable routines such as her quickstep to the Morecambe and Wise theme,  Bring Me Sunshine:
