Revealed: Comedy Central Roast Battle line-ups

Chortle can tonight reveal the line-ups for the new Roast Battles coming to  Comedy Central UK.

The six-part series will be hosted by Jimmy Carr with Russell Brand and Katherine Ryan in the judging panel line-up, and feature a no-holds-barred exchange of insults.

It will air early in the new year, although no precise transmission date has yet been announced.

Among those taking part in the half-hour shows are real-life couple Bobby Mair and Harriet Kemsley, who will trade barbs with each other, as will father-and-son Mark and Elliot Steel.

In a clash of the reality  shows, the voice of Love Island, Iain Stirling. will take on I’m A Celebrity runner-up Joel Dommett; while  in a topical show showdown, Unspun’s Matt Forde takes on The Last Leg's Alex Brooker.

Meanwhile Larry Dean boldly goes up against Sofie Hagen, whose brutal takedown of Dana Alexander during the Comedians Rap Battle show is the stuff of Edinburgh Fringe legend. ‘I couldn't believe how nasty it was. I still haven't really spoken to her since,’ Alexander said earlier this year.

Louise Holmes, the general manager of Comedy Central UK, said: ‘Roast Battle will see the UK's finest comedians go head to head in the ultimate battle of wits. We will pit friend against frenemy, northerners against southerners. The gloves will be coming off and no subject is off limits if it gives fodder for funny.’
