BOBBY & HARRIET GET MARRIED: They are the couple that have been dubbed the Kardashians of comedy by… well, Chortle. When comics Bobby Mair and Harriet Kemsley decided to tie the knot, they also decided to make it into a 'structured reality' sitcom as they plan for the big day… on a tight budget and with Mair, especially, unimpressed with all the traditional rigamarole of the ceremony. Comic pals including Katharine Ryan and Romesh Ranganathan pop up in later episodes, but in this series opener, the couple concentrate on the financial nightmare ahead. Viceland, 10pm.
Thursday August 3
INSECURE: Issa Rae, creator of the Awkward Black Girl web series, is back on Sky Atlantic in a second season of her highly acclaimed comedy, which the Boston Globe called' an extraordinary portrait of an ordinary, relatable, and delightful person'. Sky Atlantic, 10:35pm
NATALIE HAYNES STANDS UP FOR THE CLASSICS: Natalie Haynes takes a comic look at the ancient world in this returning Radio 4 series. First up is the Greek poet, Sappho, known for her verses about her love for women. With special guests novelist Stella Duffy, classicist Professor Edith Hall and music from Little Machine. Radio 4, 11.30am
Saturday August 5
WHAT WE DID ON OUR HOLIDAY: David Tennant and Rosamund Pike play an unhappily married couple who take their children to see their ailing grandfather, Billy Connolly. Writer-directors Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin use the same techniques they used on Outnumbered to get realistic acting performances out of the children in a script that moves – sometimes uneasily - between comedy and pathos. BBC Two, 10.30pm.
