Nick Helm to host TV food show

New travel-based series for Dave

Nick Helm is making a food travelogue for Dave.

Provisionally titled Nick Helm's Comfort Eating, the comic is currently shooting the show around the UK, as he dines with and interviews fellow comedians, chefs and food experts.

Bob Mortimer was his guest when he visited The Man Behind The Curtain restaurant in Leeds last week, while Morgana Robinson joined him at La Patagonia in Camden, during the Argentine restaurant's regular live tango night.

Other eateries visited include the Taiwanese Mr Bao and the Spanish Miss Tapas, both in Peckham, South London.

'I'm going all around the country eating food,’ Helm told Channel 4's Sunday Brunch. 'So I went to Michael O'Hare's restaurant in Leeds two days ago and that was amazing, it's really great, it's just fun … I'm meeting comedy heroes and food heroes.'

Comfort Eating is being made by North One Television, the company that makes Travel Man with Richard Ayoade for Channel 4 and Ross Noble's Freewheeling for Dave, after being  commissioned by  UKTV’s Iain Coyle..

Directed by Almost Royal's Marcus Liversedge, the 16 half-hour episodes follow a successful non-broadcast pilot last year.

Helm, who is currently starring with Jonny Sweet, Jim Howick and Samuel Anderson in the Channel 4 sitcom Loaded, is a keen foodie, who has described the Netflix documentary Chef's Table as his favourite television show and has called Primal Grill on the Food Network 'unmissable'.

The Uncle star is returning to the Edinburgh Fringe for two weeks of work-in-progress show, before touring the UK from September with the There Is Nothing You Can Do To Me That I Haven’t Already Done To Myself Tour. (Dates)
