A Gogglebox take on topical humour

BBC Two is to launch a new topical satire show – but created by ‘real people’, not comedians.

Common Sense could resemble a televised Twitter as it features members of the public sharing their ‘real opinions’ on the news while in conversation with one another in everyday situations such as being down the pub.

Production company Studio Lambert certainly have experience of this sort of show, having previously created Channel 4 hit Gogglebox.

The BBC says Common Sense ‘will bring genuine and immediate reactions that collectively highlight the nation’s hilarious and unfiltered take on the biggest talking points that week.’

‘Contributors will talk about any news story, from any news source. Everything from newspapers, radio, magazines, websites and social media threads will be discussed, lampooned and ridiculed.’

BBC Two channel editor Patrick Holland described the show as an ‘ambitious format’ when he unveiled it at the Edinburgh TV festival.

He added: ‘I want BBC Two to be a channel alive with ideas and challenging points of view.’
