Show returns next month

Channel 4 has confirmed that Taskmaster will return at 10pm on September 3. 

The line-up for the 22nd series was previously announced to be Chloe Petts, Isy Suttie, Matt Lucas, Nina Conti and Richard Ayoade.

Producers Avalon teased some of the challenges they face, saying: ‘As they crawl through secret tunnels, look for faces on toast, go on holiday with shoes and make interesting use of their armpits, they do so in the knowledge that everything they do is for [the Taskmaster].

The casting prompted some controversy, given that Little Britain – the sketch show Lucas made with David Walliams before he became an industry pariah – is now considered racist. And Ayoade has been criticised for showing support for anti-trans campaigner Graham Linehan, writer of his sitcom The IT Crowd, in his battles with ‘cancel culture’. 

Taskmaster will be airing on YouTube outside of the UK at the same time as it airs on Channel 4.

Greg Davies returns  as the Taskmaster with its creator Alex Horne as his sidekick.
