E4 gets Wasted

New sitcom set in the West Country

E4 has commissioned a new West Country comedy from the writers of Cuckoo.

As well as the Greg Davies BBC Three show, James Lamont and Jon Foster also wrote last year’s Paddington movie.

The new series Wasted, revolves around a conspiracy theorist who owns a souvenir shop in a West Country village. He runs it with with his sister, and has a crush on the girl who runs the new-age healing business behind the shop. His ‘scrounger’ best friend Kevin completes the four twentysomethings at the heart of the show.

Channel 4’s deputy head of comedy, Nerys Evans, said Wasted was ‘exactly the kind of chaotic, hilarious and mischievous comedy we love having on the channel’.

Executive producer Richard Osborne, of Angel Eye, added: ‘The experiences of young people living away from the big cities make for some very fertile comic ground and the scripts from Jon and James are hilarious. They’ve really nailed what it’s like to hang out with old mates – and at the same time make some huge leaps of imagination.’

Six half-hour episodes are to be made, but no casting news has yet been announced.
