Britain's Got Talent: The sitcom?
David Walliams working on a script
David Walliams is working on a sitcom based around a TV talent show.
The comedian has already been talking to some of his Britain’s Got Talent judges about ideas for the script – and whether they could get roles.
Alesha Dixon, who is guest editing the Sun’s Bizarre showbiz column today, told the newspaper: here has been a conversation. Amanda [Holden] and me are very keen to be involved. We’ll bully our way in.
‘I said to him whatever you do make sure I’m a cool character.’
The 36-year-old singer added: “He’s constantly sharing ideas, whether it be book ideas or TV ideas. He’s very open-minded and is such a creative person.’
And she added that Simon Cowell ‘would be up for it too’.
It wouldn’t be the first comedy set in a talent show.Peter Kay affectionately mocked the genre in 2008’s Britain’s Got the Pop Factor… and Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly On Ice. The fictional talent show in that comedy was hosted by Cat Deeley and judged by Nicki Chapman, Pete Waterman and Neil Fox – the original Pop Idol panel, minus Cowell.
