Have I Got (devolved) News For You?

Scotland to get its own topical comedy panel show

Scotland is to get a topical news quiz billed as its own version of Have I Got News For You.

Des Clarke is to host the new weekly satirical show, called Breaking The News, for BBC Radio Scotland.

Although comparisons with Radio 4's News Quiz – which already features Scots Susan Calman and Fred MacAulay as regulars – might be more apt, the show was billed as Scotland's answer to HIGNFY at a try-out at The Stand in Glasgow last month.

That early version was hosted by Chris Forbes, with fellow comics Ray Bradshaw, Chris MacArthur-Boyd, Anna Devitt and Stuart Mitchell as the panelists.

Clarke is to host another pilot episode later this month, followed by four broadcast versions in June.

The BBC says of the show: 'A mix of the UK's top comedians, journalists and up and coming stand-up talent will take a satirical swipe at the week's news in Scotland and across the UK.

'Following the events of a game-changing General Election, there is sure to be a wealth of material for them to discuss and dissect.'

Des Clarke's agent declined to comment as the show has not yet been officially announced.
