Simon Evans is to record a second series of his comedy-economics show for Radio 4. In the next four episodes of Simon Evans Goes To Market, to be taped from next month, the comedian will examine the finances behind the 'bad' products of coffee, alcohol, tobacco and sugar with the aid of expert Tim Harford. ONE of Nigeria's biggest comedy stars is returning to the UK. Basketmouth is to perform at Hammersmith's Eventim Apollo on February 14 next year. It will be the second year running the stand-up has played the venue on Valentine's night.

TOMMY TIERNAN, Mark Watson, Nick Helm and Tim Key are among the stand-ups taking part in a new comedy festival being held in Wells, Somerset, from May 29 to 31. More details.

BASIL BRUSH is to present his first-ever radio show. The frisky fox will join BBC Radio Solent presenter Louisa Hannan for a three-hour stint on BBC Radio Solent from 1pm on Monday. He said: 'This was an invitation from Miss Lou that I couldn't refuse!' The show promises comedy hits such as The Hippopotamus Song by Flanders and Swann and The Laughing Policeman? combined with Basil's 'hilarious' jokes. Mr Brush added: 'Boom Boom!'
