Industry accolades handed out

Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse’s The Story Of The Twos has been named best comedy at the Royal Television Society Awards.

Judges hailed the tongue-in-cheek celebration of BBC Two’s half-century as ‘a masterpiece… incredibly funny and bold.’

But the pair lost out in the best comedy performance category, for which they had also been nominated, to Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton. The Inside No. 9 duo were rewarded for the second time in 24 hours, as Shearsmith also collected the TV Award at the Chortle ceremony on Monday.

The RTS said the pair were ‘witty, clever and brilliantly inventive’.

Billy Connolly was named RTS best presenter for Billy Connolly's Big Send Off, a two-part documentary examining how different cultures deal with death.

Judges said he was ‘raw, funny, brave and a great communicator – open and spellbinding.’

And the ‘effortlessly slick, brilliantly cast and continually fresh’Graham Norton Show won the entertainment category.
