Eighth series confirmed

ITV has commissioned an eighth series of Benidorm to be filmed in Spain later this year.

The show’s creator Derren Litten will write all seven episodes of the new series, which will introduce a new family to the Solana.

Series seven, which is currently airing on ITV, has featured the return of Johnny Vegas, Joan Collins and Elsie Kelly. When it kicked off last month it was the most-watched show of the night, outside of the soaps, averaging 5.38million viewers.

Elaine Bedell, ITV’s director of comedy and entertainment said: ‘Benidorm continues its enduring appeal with ITV viewers, and we look forward to discovering what creator Derren Litten has in store.’
