ALAN IRWIN, Elie Kraft, Red Redmond and Stephen Ryan are through to the final of the Chortle Student Comedy Award after triumphing at the first semi-final in London last night. The second semi takes place on the Tattershall Castle tonight, compered by Joe Lycett, (Tickets) and the final is at the Pleasance in Edinburgh on August 17 (Tickets). The competition is sponsored by Alcatel One Touch and Universal Pictures (UK).

JERRY SEINFELD is the wealthiest actor in the world, according to a new rich list. His fortune was put at $820million by Wealth-X, who combined Hollywood and Bollywood stars. Second was Shah Rukh Khan, who is said to be worth $600million, then Tom Cruise at $480million.

GRIFF RHYS JONES and Rory McGrath have unveiled a blue plaque to Victorian comic writer Jerome K Jerome at his former home in Bloomsbury, Central London. The pair, along with Dara O Briain, have made seven TV series based on the author's Three Men In A Boat, and Rhys Jones said: 'I think myself and Rory have made more out of his book than he did.' The plaque was erected by the local heritage group The Marchmont Association.

ALAN CARR and Adam Hills have been announced as the headline acts for the Glee Club Comedy Tent at this year's V Festival at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, and Weston Park, Shropshire, over the weekend of August 16-17. The line-up also includes Paul Chowdhry, Andrew Maxwell –and internet comic Dapper Laughs. Carr had a message for headliner Justin Timberlake: 'Watch out Timberlake, there's someone else bringing Sexy Back.'

TIM MINCHIN is to give a talk about his work at London's Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue on July 7 as part of a series called Encounters: Performers on Performance. Tickets
