Pythons to record new songs

As greatest hits album is re-released

Monty Python are to release five new songs ahead of their London comeback shows this summer.

Eric Idle has revealed that the team are re-releasing their 1989 album Monty Python Sings, but with added new tracks. The first will be out in May.

Writing on Twitter this morning, the creator of stage musical Spamalot wrote: ‘Just been sequencing the re-release of Monty Python Sings (again) plus five new tracks. There'll be a new song on U Tube & new single May.’

The original contained 25 of their greatest hits, such as Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life, The Lumberjack Song, Galaxy Song and Sit On My Face.

Idle will join John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones and Michael Palin on stage for ten performances of Monty Python Live (Mostly) at the O2 Arena in July.

It had previously been announced that Spamalot will end its current West End run on April 12.
