Challenges for Sport Relief

John Bishop is to take on Sebastian Coe in a series of sporting challenges for Sport Relief.

The comic and the head of the Olympic committee will each captain a team of stars who will compete in five events in the ‘Clash of Titans’ contest.

It comes two years after Bishop spent a week cycling, rowing and running from Paris to London for the charity. He said: ‘Am I intimidated by going up against four-time Olympic medal winner Sebastian Coe? No, I say, bring it on! May the best man win.’

Events to be staged at former Olympic venues include track cycling, rhythmic gymnastics, synchronised swimming and a swimming relay.

Lord Coe said: ‘I hear John Bishop has quite a competitive streak but I know these venues inside out – something that, probably unrealistically, I am hoping will play to my advantage.’

Clare Balding and Gabby Logan will be presenting the challenge as part of the Sport Relief Night of TV on Friday March 21.

Tickets go on sale today priced £15, of which at least £2.50 will be donated to Comic Relief, with around £10 going on the event costs. Ticketmaster are charging up to £3.95 a ticket in fees and delivery charges on top of that.

The Sport Relief night also includes Del Boy and Rodney back on TV after 10 years with an Only Fools And Horses sketch, featuring David Beckham.
