Red Dwarf 'set to return'

According to star Robert Llewellyn

Red Dwarf is set to return for an 11th series, according to its star Robert Llewellyn.

The Dave channel is apparently close to finalising talks to bring the sci-fi sitcom back, with co-creator Doug Naylor busy writing scripts.

Lewellyn, who plays robot Kryten, broke the news on his blog.

He wrote: ‘The simple fact of the matter is we are officially making another series but we don’t know when. UKTV, the company behind Dave who broadcast Red Dwarf X, want another series and we’d love to make one,.

‘As far as the main cast are concerned, Chris [Barrie], Danny [John-Jules] Craig [Charles] and myself are all very committed to making another series, Doug Naylor is working on it like a man possessed but beyond that it’s in the lap of the GELFS.’

However the post, made on Sunday, was deleted after the news was picked up by fan sites.

Dave brought back the series last year, following a three-part special in 2009 - the first new episodes in a decade. Red Dwarf X averaged an impressive 1.5million audience across its six-part series.
