• The character of Lee Nelson may be cheeky, but he’s also a laddish wide-boy with a unreconstructed sexist attitude and a relaxed attitude to the law. Yet First TransPennine Express this week proudly said he was ‘perfect ambassador’ for their train service. Marketing manager Victoria Tomlinson’s comments came after Simon Brodkin’s ‘chavvy’ character was allowed to take over the onboard announcements on a Manchester to Edinburgh service as he headed to the Fringe. They included: ‘Sorry ladies and gentlemen, but we will be 35 minutes late due to having a female driver.’

Russell Brand took an audience member’s mobility scooter for a spin around the auditorium before launching into his MessiahComplex show at the  Dorking Halls.

• A tattoo artist has immortalised both Tim Minchin and Jimmy Carr on to one client’s flesh. Jordan Crockett, who works at Second Skin Tattoo Studio in Derby posted this picture on Instagram this week. Carr commented: ‘The good thing is they won't regret this in the future...they won't have to wait.’

• Two men were thrown out of Kevin Bridges’s show in Arbroath this week after threatening to take him outside for a fight. Audience members reported it was threatening verbal abuse, beyond heckling, while  Angus Council which runs the Webster Memorial Theatre, said the men were ejected for ‘unacceptable and threatening language’.

• Another ‘classic’ routine from the archives Sky Star Search talent show. Enjoy the embarrassment:

Miranda Hart says she almost became a sports star  in her youth. She ran the 100 metres in 12 seconds and also had a trial for the QPR women’s football team.

• Tweets of the week
Nick Doody  (@NickDoody): Went to some guy's work today and knocked the dicks out of his mouth. Hope he doesn't turn up and heckle at any of my shows tonight.
Sixth Form Poet (@sixthformpoet): FUN FACT: The word brunch originated in the 1960s, when busy executives would break mid-morning to eat Broccoli and Monster Munch.
Peter Serafinowicz  (@serafinowicz): I've designed a pack of playing cards. Deal with it.
