Revealed: Chris Rock's new movie

He's a comic who wants to be taken seriously

Chris Rock is to shoot a new film about a comedian who wants to be taken seriously.

He will both star in and direct Finally Famous, which he also wrote, when it shoots from June.

His character Andre Allen is a comedian turned film star who is determined to reinvent himself as a ‘serious’ actor through a pretentiously historical film.

Alongside the beleaguered project, he is planning a televised wedding to a reality TV star – but then falls for a New Yorker journalist set to interview him.

Details of the film were revealed by the Showbiz 411 website, which had sight of a casting call for the reporter with a ‘lacerating’ sense of humour.

Rock will be writing the scrip from experience, as in 2010 he starred in the serious Broadway play The Motherfucker With The Hat.

Meanwhile, Rock has hinted that he might be going on tour with Dave Chappelle, after the pair made a surprise appearance together in front of a small audience at the Comedy Cellar in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
