Our first £200 video winner named

Milo McCabe and Toby Williams have won the first £200 prize in Chortle’s monthly video competition.

They took the prize for their contribution Lucky And Topher: Tennis with a twist – in which they played an odd couple sharing their sporting tips.

McCabe, also known on the circuit as Portuguese character act Philberto, said: 'I'm delighted to get the nod! A few hours of pissing about in my dad's garden and now myself and Toby Williams can forever call ourselves “Chortle Award Winners”.’

Their winning entry is below. Meanwhile the entries are now open for the January competition.

We are primarily seeking sketch comedy, animations or short comedy films, rather than clips of stand-up sets or the sort of 'real' clip that might be best sent to You've Been Framed. All the videos accepted will also feature on the front page of Chortle.

Submissions should be sent to – using a transfer service such as WeTransfer if the file size is large.

Other rules are:

  • The videos must be original, and cannot include any copyrighted music, clips or images unless you have the permission of the rights holders. We may need evidence of this.

  • Videos must include a Chortle Presents... intro and outro sting, available for download here.

  • By submitting a video, you are licensing Chortle to use it on our YouTube channel and on Chortle itself for six months. We will remove any clips beyond six months on request. The videos may be shown with adverts, which are funding the prize.

  • We do not require exclusivity, and your videos may also be published elsewhere. However, they should be new – we will not feature videos that have been available elsewhere for more than a week.

  • Not all videos will be used; Chortle will make an editorial decision on what to use. Our advice is to keep contributions as short as possible, and grab the viewer quickly. Similarly he winner of each month’s prize will be determined entirely at the discretion of the Chortle editor.
