Inbetweeners duo to explore adulting for C4

Inbetweeners stars Joe Thomas and James Buckley are making a road-trip documentary about being adults.

The project, for Channel 4, has the working title Joe and James: Boys To Men – and is likely to exploit the renewed interest in The Inbetweeners surrounding the release of the third movie on Netflix.

The pair already host the BBC Sounds podcast Joe and James Fact Up together, which launched in February. They also appeared together in the BBC Two sitcom White Gold, playing rival double-glazing salesmen.

When the actors first made the sitcom, they were in their early 20s – now they are 42 and 39 respectively, their new show will explore ‘ how exactly you make the most of midlife without a crisis,’ according to Deadline, which first reported the project.

 Commissioning editor Vivienne Molokwu told the industry website: ‘Whether you rewatch an ep of The Inbetweeners or catch them on their hilarious podcast, the chemistry between Joe and James is undeniable.

‘Their genuine friendship and different perspectives on life make them both engaging and entertaining so I can’t wait to see them explore the very modern question of what to do when you’re too old to be young but too young to be old.’

The show is being produced by Idle Industries with Inbetweeners maker Fudge Park.
