Gervais to hit Edinburgh TV festival

Ricky Gervais is to give a talk at the Edinburgh International Television Festival about how to break into American TV.

The Office creator will be interviewed by Radio 5 Live's Richard Bacon on the Hollywood TV machine, as well as talking about his Sky 1 travel show An Idiot Abroad, in which he sends sidekick Karl Pilkington around the world.

Elsewhere in the festival, which is sponsored by MediaGuardian, comedy mogul and founder of Avalon Group, Jon Thoday will give the Richard Dunn Memorial interview, covering his work in comedy management and production, and discussing how he launched the careers of some of the UK’s best known comedians.

Lee Mack,Miranda Hart,The IT Crowd writer Graham Linehan and even Jim Davidson are also due to appear at the event, while Russeel Kane will be hosting the channel of the year awards.

The festival runs from August 26 to 28 at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
