BBC pilots comedy chat show

With Adam Buxton, Jo Neary

Adam Buxton is to star in a new BBC comedy chat show, based in a fictional small village.

He plays a dashing actor in the small community of Toxborough in the hybrid comedy Same Time Next Week, which is currently in development.

As well as the talk show, the programme will feature elements of sitcom reflecting life in the village including ‘video diaries, reviews, letters and songs’.

Character comedian Joanna Neary, best known for playing Judith in Ideal, also has a role as ‘irrepressible housewife’ Celia Jesson, while her ridiculously sensible husband Fred will be played by newcomer Al Kerr.

A pilot edition of the show will be recorded in London later this month, with the studio audience encouraged to ‘dress up in your finest provincial clothing’.

The show is being made by Feelgood Fiction, whose credits include Suburban Shootout.
