Kay inspires new biscuit

...which doesn't dissolve in tea

Peter Kay has inspired food scientists to create a biscuit that will not crumble in tea.

The team from the Asda supermarket spent nine months perfecting the recipe after hearing the Bolton comic’s routine.

They say they have found the ideal combination of oats and honey which bonds the cookie together when dunked, yet still allowing it to soak up plenty of the brew.

Asda’s Mel Ellison said: ‘We were inspired by Peter Kay’s famous sketches about biscuits breaking off in his brew. After speaking to customers, we found they too are looking for a quality cookie that is dunkable.

‘We have invested nine months of work in the cookie, from the initial concept stages right through to extensive taste testing and sampling.

‘Feedback has been that the cookie exceeds expectations, not only because it’s dunkable but also because the shape fits most mugs and cups unlike normal circular cookies.’

The Dunkin’ Cookies will be available from today. Whatever next, garlic bread?
