After You've Gone keeps going

20 more episodes in the pipeline

BBC One has ordered another 20 episodes of the Nicholas Lyndhurst comedy After You've Gone – enough to last until late 2009.

A fourth series of ten episodes and two Christmas specials – for 2008 and 2009 – have been ordered before the eight-part third season has even been made.

The sitcom, which was created by My Family supremo Fred Barron, also stars Celia Imrie as Lyndhurst’s mother-in-law, who helps him bring up his children while his wife is away.

It regularly attracts more than 5 million viewers to BBC One.

Kenton Allen, the BBC’s head of comedy talent said: ‘American style team writing is now alive and kicking within BBC comedy.

‘This fantastic commitment to After You've Gone means we can now deliver family sitcom in consistent volume to BBC One with all the genuine benefits that team writing brings.’

The writing team which includes Andrea Solomans, Dan Tetsell, Katie Douglas, Steve Armogida and Jim Armogida.
