More accolades for Gavin & Stacey

Comdy lands three award nods

Gavin & Stacey is up for three more TV awards, just days after its British Comedy Award success.

The BBC Three sitcom has been shortlisted in three categories of the industry’s Broadcast Awards: best comedy, best multichannel programme and best new programme.

Its rivals in the comedy category are:

  • ITV1’s Benidorm, starring Johnny Vegas
  • The BBC One reunion for Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse, Ruddy Hell! It's Harry and Paul.
  • Outnumbered, the BBC One sitcom starring Hugh Dennis as a struggling dad
  • The Thick of It: The Rise of the Nutters

E4’s spoof phone call programme Fonejacker is up against Gavin & Stacey in both best multichannel programme and best new programme.

The other multichannel nominees are the BBC Three shows Filthy Rich And Homeless and Last Man Standing, and E4’s Skins.

Outnumbered is also on the best new programme shortlist, alongside ITV1’s Britain's Got Talent and Channel 4’s Wedding Belles.

And in the category for best entertainment programme, the nominees are Never Mind the Buzzcocks, QI, Derren Brown: Trick or Treat, Top Gear and Britain's Got Talent.

The winners will be announced in London on January 23.
