FX wants user-generated comedy

Another broadcaster is to air comedy clips made by viewers as part of its schedules.

Digital channel FX is encouraging people to submit their videos via MySpace, for possible inclusion in its Thursday-night comedy line-ups, alongside the likes of Family Guy.

The promotional trailer for the scheme, below, encourages submissions of anything from mobile phone footage to professionally made clips.

FX’s Cecilia Parker said: ‘Since it launched, MySpace has attracted highly creative users who have produced some brilliant and hilarious content. It is great to be able to reward that creativity with a television broadcast on FX.’

Anyone submitting videos here agrees to let either MySpace or FX owner Fox use the clips however they want, anywhere in the world, without payment.

Both FX and MySpace are part of Rupert Murdoch’s media empire.
