Al talks turkey

Pub Landlord fronts food safety ads

Pub Landlord Al Murray is to front a safe eating campaign for Christmas.

The comic has been signed up by the Food Standards Agency for a series of adverts advising people to ensure their turkey is cooked.

The campaign – which starts on TV tonight - also includes five ads designed to be circulated virally on the internet.

In the adverts, Murray stays in character with such pronouncements as ‘Nature didn't intend men to cook ... what's next, female engineers?’, and ‘William Shakespeare wasted his time writing plays’.

Meanwhile Murray is preparing for his new prime-time ITV1 Saturday night show, which launches on ITV1 on January 13.

The show – which features Murray quizzing guests plus music stars forced to play covers of the Landlord’s favourite band, Queen – will be recorded in the week of transmission
