A Peep into celebrity

New comedy for Channel 4

The makers of Peep Show have written a new six-part series about the world of celebrity.

Star Stories will reconstruct the weddings, launches, parties and feuds of Hollywood actors and international pop stars with a cast including Matt King, Kevin Bishop, Olly Maltman and Alice Lowe.

It is due to air on Channel 4 in September, as part of the autumn schedule announced today.

As part of the launch E4 also confirmed that its ensemble sketch show Blunter will air in November.

The cast and writers are David Mitchell, pictured, Simon Farnaby,  Rhys Thomas, Nina Conti, Tom Meeten and Tony Way. The Fast Show’s Charlie Higson will be script editor.

It will feature such cartoonish oddballs as a 2,000-year-old bog man come back to life (echoing the classic Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner 2,000-year-old man sketches), the most evil man in the world The Baron, a racehorse who can’t find love and a bored housewife who does unspeakable things with household appliances.

Other comedy highlights in the new season include an airing of the new Secret Policeman’s Ball in October, a series about offensive comedy in November, and an hour-long documentary about What The Pythons Did Next.
