Bean's a runner

Green light for Atkinson sequel

The sequel to the 1997 Mr Bean movie has officially been given the green light, with a scheduled release date of Easter 2007.

This time, Rowan Atkinson’s hapless character will head off for a holiday in the south of France, ending up at the Cannes film festival

Producers Tiger Aspect will be hoping to repeat the success of the original, which took £140 million at the box office.

The company’s Katherine Senior told trade website Broadcastnow.com: ‘Bean has been evolving - first the TV series, then the film, the animated series and now this.

‘People seem to think you just write it on the back of an envelope, but it takes about two to three years in-between each apparition.’

Working Title Films will also be involved in the production and distribution of the movie, provisionally titled Bean II.
