Davis in kidney scare

Office star rushed to hospital

The Office star Lucy Davis has been rushed to hospital after suffering a suspected kidney failure.

The 32-year-old actress collapsed at her family home in Birmingham on Christmas Day, and spend the rest of the festive season in Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

However her father, Jasper Carrott, said Davis is now recovering well, even though doctors are unsure what sparked the scare.

The actress, who played receptionist Dawn in Ricky Gervais’s comedy has a history of renal problems. Eight years ago her mother Hazel donated one of her kidneys to give Lucy a lifesaving operation.

She has lost almost three stone over the last year, in a diet friends say is driven by her career ambitions in Hollywood.

However, Carrott told today’s Mail on Sunday her weight loss had ‘nothing whatsoever’ to do with her scare.

The 60-year-old comic added: ‘She was in a fair amount of pain and was rushed to hospital. But she is fine now – well, on the way to recovery.

‘Her kidney is fine, and she has not been diagnosed with any new medical condition.

‘We don‚t know what caused this incident, but it is one of those things that can happen. We‚re all glad that she’s now back home.’
