Peep Show stars David Mitchell and Robert Webb have landed their own BBC Two sketch show – which also features many of team behind the critically acclaimed Channel 4 series.

The duo start filming the pilot episode of That Mitchell and Webb Sound in January.

The half-hour commission follows on from the pair’s Radio 4 show of the same name.

Kenton Allen, head of the BBC’s Manchester-based Comedy North unit, said: ‘There's an excellent tradition of the best Radio 4 comedies successfully transferring to BBC television. We hope David Mitchell and Robert Webb can continue this fine history of collaboration.’

The show promises a mix of character-driven material and satirical sketches, with a supporting cast including Olivia Colman, who plays love interest Sophie in Peep Show.

Additional material for the show will be written by Peep Show’s creators Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong, as well as Dead Ringer writer John Finnemore.
