Life after Boosh

Sketch show for support actors

The two supporting actors from BBC Three’s The Mighty Boosh have landed their own sketch series.

Matt Berry and Rich Fulcher have been commissioned to write six half-hour shows for the station, due to be broadcast in April next year.

Fulcher, who plays brash zoo owner Bob Fossil, pictured, has been dubbed ‘the unofficial third member’ of The Boosh after Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt and has appeared with them in all three of the stage shows that preceded the TV series. He is also a stand-up comedian and had his own Edinburgh shows in 1997 and 2001 (review).

Berry, who plays daring adventurer Dixon Bainbridge in the Boosh series, has also appeared in Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace and created the Biblical BBC Three rock opera AD/BC.

Their new show will ‘look and feel a lot different from the sketch shows going out at the moment,’ said executive producer Jim Reid, of independent production house Channel X.

He told trade newspaper Broadcast: ‘It’s not laden with catchphrases, there’s a narrative going through each episode and the two guys are in every scene.’
