Let's Pretend

McGregor's new £10m comedy

Ewan McGregor is to star in a new comedy movie written by the star of In The Thick Of It.

Peter Capaldi, who starred as a no-nonsense Glaswegian No 10 enforcer in Armando Iannucci’s BBC Four satire, will also direct the £10million film The Great Pretender.

McGregor, fresh from his West End run in Guys and Dolls, pictured, will play four roles in two time settings, Hollywood trade paper Variety reports.

He stars as Leslie Grangely, a Thirties Hollywood icon playing Bonnie Prince Charlie. But when Grangely hits the bottle and disappears, an unassuming lookalike – also played by McGregor takes his place.

Financing for the film has just been finalised, so shooting can start in London in January.
