Cash drops heavy hints

The Royle Family could be returning to TV, its co-writer Craig Cash has revealed.

Five years after the sitcom ended, Cash fuelled the persistent rumours it would return in an online interview.

Talking to The Sun’s website, Cash - who played Dave as well as creating the series with Caroline Aherne – said: ‘Put it this way: I wouldn't be surprised if some time in the future you saw another Royle Family.

‘It would be at least a one off but I'd love to do it and I'm sure everyone else would too - fingers crossed.It would be like getting The Magnificent Seven back together!’

Three years ago, Cash and Aherne’s professional relationship split up while working on Early Doors, which made its BBC One debut last night after previously being screened on BBC Two.

In another interview this week, Cash has revealed that work is under way on a third series.
