A Daily fix

C4 buys spoof newscast

Spoof American news broadcast The Daily Show is to be screened on Channel 4’s new digital offshoot More4.

The Comedy Central show has been available in a condensed weekly ‘international format’ on CNN, but this is its  first full-scale overseas syndication deal.

Fronted by Jon Stewart, the programme will be screened nightly when the free-to-air channel launches on October 10.

More4 boss Peter Dale said: ‘I think it's irresistible to an audience that likes an irreverent brand of humour. It's made for British audiences in some ways.’

He added that Comedy Central ‘seemed a bit surprised that we were interested’.

The new, upmarket channel will also air the new, fourth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
