Paramount poaches South Park

The Paramount Comedy Channel has poached the rights to the next series of South Park from Sky One.

Season eight will be screened on the cable and satellite channel from April. And as part of the deal, Paramount will also screen repeats of the first six series later in the year.

It bought the rights from MTV Networks, which distributes the show internationally, but is also a sister company.

Paramount Comedy's  Heather Jones said: "South Park has been on our wish-list for some time and we are thrilled to be working with MTV Networks on such a key acquisition.

"The show reflects our ongoing commitment to provide viewers with the best new comedy from around the world, alongside much-loved favourites."
